DEREK PACIFICO - Founder & President

(Interview & Interrogation, Customer Relations & Conflict Resolution, Self Defense Courses, Leadership & Ethics, Homicide Investigator’s School Coordinator)

Derek is a dynamic, energetic and interactive public speaker who has been continuously instructing peace officers and the general public since 1993. He began his law enforcement career in 1990 as a Deputy Sheriff with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and was promoted to Detective in 1998. He was in the Homicide Detail from 1999 through 2005 working over 130 murders, officer involved shootings and other suspicious deaths before being promoted to his current rank of Sergeant.

Shortly after his arrival in the Homicide Detail, Derek was asked to take over as his departments lead Interview and Interrogation Instructor. He also wrote and implemented the department’s first ever and highly successful, 80-hour Homicide School. Both of these classes maintain such a high reputation that departments statewide seek them out to train their personnel.

During his patrol years, Derek studied at the Ten-Chi Dojo in the martial art of Aikido. The techniques of Aikido are right in line with the goal of law enforcement and the use of force pyramid. Aikido uses only that force which is necessary based on the level of violence perpetrated by the subject’s attack. He studied nearly every night and special sessions on weekends to hone his skills and become an assistant instructor at the dojo. A couple of years after he began his training, he earned his black belt and started training officers in Police Aikido.
